Denver Grassroots Group Collects Twice the Required Number of Signatures for Ballot

Denver - Safe and Sound Denver Issue Committee will submit referendum petitions to the Clerk at the Denver Elections Division, 200 W. 14th Avenue, at 9:00 a.m. on May 13, 2021. More than 18,000 signatures are being submitted, double the number required by statute. Referendum petitions must be submitted 90 days from the date of the attested ordinance. The number of valid Denver registered voter signatures required to qualify for the ballot is 9,184.

“Placing this referendum on the November 2021 ballot gives Denver residents a voice and a choice about housing uses in their neighborhoods,” stated Florence Sebern, a member of Safe and Sound Denver.

The 200-page Group Living Zoning Code Amendment was passed by Denver City Council on February 8, 2021 by a vote of 11-2. Over 5,000 letters of opposition and 600 letters of support were in the public record.
